Goodbye 2009!

Hello all,

When I look back on 2009, it was pretty awesome for in the Export camp.

- We kicked off the year with recording the Loose Change EP and gave it away for free.
- Played a ton of shows including Forward Music Fest and Summerfest.
- Moved to Chicago and made a lot of new friends while playing a lot more shows.
- Wrapped up the year with 85% of a full-length album in the can.

I have to say it was pretty good year indeed.  The holiday season has brought us some much needed R&R (on ice) and the New Year is only hours away.  So in the spirit of 2009, I thought I’d share with you all our favorite memories & albums of the year:

Archie Powell:
I met Frank Black this year. Saw him walking around with his young children in Madison. Shook his hand when he ran past me to catch one of the little ragamuffins who managed to escape. Gnarly as hell.
Favorite record of 2009: Eels – Hombre Lobo

Adam Export:

Never underestimate the value of a “We play everything!” radio station. While driving home at 2am, Madison’s CharlieFM saved us by playing the back to back hits of Hall & Oates “Rich Girl” and Tom Petty “Free Fallin’”. Super loud singalongs (paired with failed attempts to rap all of Beastie Boys “Paul Revere”) really help keep energy high and the driver – yours truly – conscious at the wheel.
Favorite record of 2009: Future Of The Left – Travels With Myself And Another

Brian Export:

Finally seeing The Pixies at probably the coolest venue I’ve ever been to, the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago.
Favorite record of 2009: Nirvana – Bleach (Sub-Pop Reissue)

Ryan Export:
Recording the LP. Most satisfying marathon studio experience ever.
Favorite record(s) of 2009: Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band – Outer South / Calvin Harris – Ready For The Weekend

There you have it! If you are signed up for our mailing list you’ve already received and seen this list before everyone else.  If you too want to receive the inside scoop on all AP&E happenings you can enter your email in the box located on our website and Myspace pages.  Another easy way is to go download our free EP and you will automatically be enrolled.

Also, thank you to all of you out there who supported us through our first year as a band.  We even made some 2009 best of lists like #10 on Random Old Records Blog and Madison B-Side Records (on Michelle’s 13 Best list) gave us the #2 slot!  So thank you to everyone who wrote, spoke, tweeted, IMed, messaged, smoke signaled and all that jazz for us this year.

We hope to see/meet you all in 2010!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
- Adam Export
